My family is mentally unstable. But despite the yearly insanity and screaming voices that will give you a migraine for a week, I love them. The food is just ok, but food is always just ok. To me thanksgiving has never been about the food, no one in my family can cook anyways. It’s just about alcohol, games, and laughs. Oh and of course….football. The one thing I have no interest in at all. But I am willing to pretend I do for the people I love. Every thanksgiving me and my cousin sneak away from the family after lunch and take a nap while watching cheesy asian horror movies. It’s wonderful.

I used to deal with stress by smoking alot of weed. Now that I quit smoking though, I just like to take a nap. Whenever studying, homework, grades, or art projects get too over whelming, I just take a nap. Or go hang out with someone. Because why be stressed when you can be distracted or unconscience?

I’m not afraid of many things, because I’m pretty scary myself, but I have a strong fear of snakes. And a fear of burglars. I have had about three encounters with strange scary men being in my house and I mean, who wouldn’t be scared by that? I have so many nightmares of snakes crawling into my bed. But yet, I have swam in the nasty TN river my whole life, a snake’s best friend. I am a genius.

super powers

When I heard this topic I thought of all the answers that people usually say when asked this question. Super strength, flying, and for the creeps of this world, x-ray vision. There are a lot of things I wish I could do, but it’s hard to say what one super power I would choose. Flying would be great and being able to morph into various animals or people would be fun, but I wouldn’t be helping anyone. Isn’t that the point of a hypothetical super power? To help people? While it may not seem as appealing as the others, a great one would be the ability to somehow purify water. 97% of our water is salt, 2% is glacier ice, and the other 1% is our drinking water. Of that 1% there is still large amounts of pollution. People in third world countries don’t have access to clean drinking water. Not only water, but just simply having access to food. 40 million children die a year of hunger in these countries. 40 MILLION. I want a super power that helps solve that problem. If it means giving up a chance to fly, oh well. I like walking. ha

fall breakin’

Over fall break I went on a mission trip to Costa Rica. It was amazing. I quickly realized that America is far less exciting than most other places. And that I’m not as good at soccer as I thought I was, ha. I learned alot about myself too, and finally accepted that I don’t have to have my whole life figured out yet. I’m young and have tons of time to do great things. I don’t feel like my age holds me back at all. I’m 18. I’m ok with being young, I appreciate it. I’m tired of feeling like I am any less of a person for being younger than my friends. I definitely know I need God’s help, and am not ashamed of that knowledge anymore. I have done enough stupid and crazy things in my 18 years of life to make up for a lifetime of sin, and I don’t wanna waste anymore time. I really miss all the people I worked with in Costa Rica, and it’s tough to realize I’ll probably never see them again. We did so many things I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so glad I didn’t just go to the beach or something. I would have been so bored. Every day was packed full of crazy and exciting ways to spread love to the people there. And the food was awesome. I feel weird being back in the U.S., and wish I wasn’t. I love the uncertainty I have for next year. Who knows where I’ll be or who I’ll be with, but where ever or who ever, I know it will be amazing. You can judge me because of my faith however you see fit. I’m fine with it. And this is really off topic from the category of “what we did over fall break” but hey, who cares.

I drive the ole’ “lone shark” (the name I have given my car) down to UAH everyday from my house. The first week of school I already knew that tickets could not yet be given, so I just parked where ever I felt like it (curbs, random spots in the library parking lot…). Ah, the perks of having friends who have already graduated from UAH and know stupid things like that, ha. So since then parking really hasn’t been an issue. I have no problem with walking a distance of a parking lot to get to class. I am not lazy. And I am not afraid of rain, cold, or any other type of weather. This is why jackets were invented. Just like we all have feet so that we can WALK.
